The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM Kisan) is an important scheme the government of India started to provide financial help to the nation’s small and marginal farmers. PM KISAN 17th Installment Date
The Indian government has announced that the 17th installment of its scheme, the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN), is scheduled to be disbursed in May 2024. This installment is part of the government’s efforts to support the country’s farmers and will provide eligible farmers across India with a direct transfer of ₹2,000 into their bank accounts. This installment is expected to benefit millions of farmers across the country and provide them with much-needed financial support.
Objectives of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme
The main objectives of the PM Kisan scheme are to:
- To help small and medium farmers (SMFs) with their finances to buy the necessary inputs for their crops, which will help produce healthy crops and generate the expected farm income.
- Provide financial support to families of SMFs to ensure their continuance in farming activities.
- Help protect farmers from falling into the hands of moneylenders, which could ultimately lead them into financial trouble and risk their ability to continue farming.
PM Kisan Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the PM Kisan scheme, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Land Ownership: The scheme is open to all Small and Marginal Farmers who own cultivable land up to 2 hectares as per land records of the concerned State/UT.
- Family Definition: The scheme’s benefit will be provided to all eligible SMFs in the context of a family. A family for the scheme is defined as “a family comprising of husband, wife and minor children who own cultivable land as per the land records of the respective State/UT.”
Who is Excluded from it?
The following categories of beneficiaries of higher economic status shall not be eligible for benefit under the scheme:
- All Institutional Landholders.
- Farmer families which belong to one or more of the following categories:
- Former and present holders of constitutional posts.
- Former and present Ministers/State Ministers and former/present Members of LokSabha/ RajyaSabha/ State Legislative Assemblies/ State Legislative Councils, former and present Mayors of Municipal Corporations, former and present Chairpersons of District Panchayats.
- All serving or retired officers and employees of Central/ State Government Ministries /Offices/Departments and its field units Central or State PSEs and Attached offices /Autonomous Institutions under Government as well as regular employees of the Local Bodies.
- All superannuated/retired pensioners whose monthly pension is Rs.10,000/-or more (Excluding Multi-Tasking Staff / Class IV/Group D employees).
- All Persons who paid Income Tax in the last assessment year.
- Professionals like Doctors, Engineers, Lawyers, Chartered Accountants, and Architects are registered with Professional bodies and carry out their profession by undertaking practices.
Documents Required
Farmers wishing to apply for the PM Kisan scheme must register themselves on the official PM Kisan portal or through the nearest Common Service Centres (CSCs). The following documents are required for registration:
- Identity Proof: Aadhar is mandatory for registration.
- Land Ownership Papers: Document proof of land ownership up to 2 hectares.
- Bank Account Details: Bank account number and the IFSC code of the branch where the account is held, as the benefit is directly transferred to the bank account.
How to Check PM KISAN 17th Installment Status?
To check the status of your PM Kisan account for the year 2024, follow these simple steps:
- Visit the official PM-Kisan portal at pmkisan.gov.in.
- On the homepage, you will see the “Farmers Corner” section. Click on it to proceed.
- From the options displayed, select “Know Your Status”. Clicking on this will open a new tab in your browser.
- In the new open tab, enter your Registration Number, and the Captcha Code is displayed.
- Once you have entered the required details, click “Get OTP.” You will receive a One-Time Password (OTP) on your registered mobile number.
- Enter the OTP received in the space provided and submit it. This will help you know the status of your PM Kisan account for the year 2024.
How to Check PM Kisan Beneficiary Status?
Farmers registered under the PM Kisan scheme can check their beneficiary status online to verify whether they are eligible for the upcoming installment and if their previous installments have been credited successfully. The status check can be performed by following these steps:
- Visit the official PM Kisan portal at pmkisan.gov.in.
- On the website, navigate to the ‘Farmers Corner’ section, which can be found in the menu at the top of the page.
- Various options are available in the ‘Farmers Corner’ section. Here, select the ‘Beneficiary Status’ option.
- You will be asked to enter specific details on the’ Beneficiary Status’ page. You will need to enter either your Aadhar Account or Mobile number that is linked with PM Kisan.
- Once you have entered the details, click the ‘Get Data’ button to submit the information.
- The status of your payment and beneficiary eligibility will be displayed on the screen. You can check whether you are eligible for the PM Kisan scheme, and if you are, you can also see the status of your payments.
