Indian Army Technical Entry Eligibility Criteria

  • Age: Candidates must be between 16½ and 19½ years old as on the first day of the month in which the course is due to commence.
  • Qualification: Candidates must have completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Maths, achieving an aggregate of 60% and above. They must also appear in JEE (Mains) to be eligible to apply for B.E/B.Tech.
  • Marital Status: Candidates must be unmarried.

10+2 Technical Entry Scheme Selection Process

Candidates who applied online during the notification period are shortlisted based on eligibility. Shortlisted candidates undergo a rigorous five-day SSB interview process: Psychology test, Group test and Interview.

Candidates who get recommended on the last day undergo a thorough medical examination to assess physical fitness. Only medically fit candidates proceed to the next stage.

A final merit list is prepared based on vacancies and candidate performance. Selected candidates attend technical institutions (such as the College of Military Engineering, Military College of Telecommunication Engineering, or Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering) for training. Upon completing the course, candidates are directly commissioned as Lieutenants in the Indian Army.

TES 52 Duration of Training

The total duration of training is 5 years, which includes 1 year at OTA Gaya and 4 years at CTWS, with a Permanent Commission awarded after 4 years.

  • Phase I: The first year of pre-commissioning training at OTA Gaya followed by three years at one of the following institutions: College of Military Engineering (CME) Pune, Military College of Telecommunication Engineering (MCTE) Mhow, or Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME) Secunderabad.
  • Phase II: One year of post-commission training at one of the aforementioned institutions.
