The Indian Air Force (IAF) has released the official notification for AFCAT (Air Force Common Admission Test) 02/2024. This recruitment drive aims to fill 304 vacancies in various branches, including Flying, Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical), and NCC Special Entry. The courses will commence in July 2025.

AFCAT Educational Qualification

  • Flying Branch: Candidates must have a minimum of 50% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2 level and a Graduation with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
  • Ground Duty (Technical): Candidates must have a minimum of 50% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2 level and a 4-year degree in Engineering/Technology.
  • Ground Duty (Non-Technical): Graduate in any discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent or a post-graduation with 50% marks in any discipline.
Age Limits
  • Flying Branch: 20 to 24 years as of 01-07-2025 (Born between 02 July 1999 to 01 July 2005).
  • Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical) Branch: 20 to 26 years as of 01-07-2025 (Born between 02 July 1999 to 01 July 2005).
Application Fee

According to the official AFCAT 2 2024 Notification, candidates applying for the AFCAT entry will need to pay an application fee of Rs 550 (plus GST). However, those applying for the NCC Special Entry are not required to pay any application fees.

AFCAT Selection Process

After submitting the application, candidates will go through a multi-stage selection process. Each stage is designed to evaluate different aspects of the candidates’ abilities and suitability for a career in the Indian Air Force. Here are the steps involved in the selection process:

AFCAT Written Examination: Candidates must first appear for the AFCAT written exam. This test assesses their knowledge and aptitude in various subjects like General Awareness, Verbal Ability, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning.

AFSB (Air Force Selection Board) Testing: Shortlisted candidates from the written exam are called for the AFSB testing. This stage involves multiple rounds, including psychological tests, group discussions, and personal interviews to evaluate the candidate’s personality, leadership qualities, and suitability for the Air Force.

Medical Examination: Candidates who clear the AFSB testing must undergo a thorough medical examination. This step ensures that they meet the physical and medical standards required to serve in the Indian Air Force.

Final Merit List: Based on performance in the AFCAT written exam, AFSB testing, and medical examination, a final merit list is prepared. Candidates who make it to this list are offered admission to the training courses starting in July 2025.
